ABOUT CARMEN
Hi there,
My name is Carmen, and I am a degree-qualified Clinical Nutritionist based in South Australia.
Born in Zimbabwe and immigrated with my family to Australia when I was six years old. I spent my childhood growing up in rural SA on various livestock and monoculture cropping farms.
My passion for food (and cooking) comes from a young age, always helping in the kitchen and wanting to be involved. I discovered natural health and the power of food as medicine in my teen years. Researching and educating myself to support my body the best to manage personal health conditions during high school. As I found a lack of long-term benefits from seeking conventional medical services.
After understanding the importance diet and food choices have on supporting my personal health issues, my values became aligned with an interest in traditional holistic medicine. I was fixated on learning more about food and nutrition in disease prevention and improving health, and that is how I got here.
Our food choices and habits are ultimately medicine or poison. I want to help you utilise food as medicine to heal the body and achieve an optimal balance. Following holistic principles to restore the bodies natural ability to heal itself through an individualised nutrition plan.
My whole heart is in this, and I'm so excited to work with you on your health journey.

WHAT IS HOLISTIC NUTRITIONAL MEDICINE?
An approach to wellness that simultaneously addresses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of health.
Holistic health is a form of clinical practice that addresses and treats the body as a whole. It encompasses understanding the connection of the mind, body and spirit and how the interplay between these effects our overall health. It focuses on specifically individualised support to optimise better health and well-being, and prevent disease.
In nutritional medicine it is about curating a nutritiously balanced food plan that suits you, and your needs as an individual. Through evidence-based practice, the nutrition plan will use food as medicine to promote and enhance your health and quality of life. With additional support from nutritional supplements if needed.
